Art deco houses
and flats were mostly owned by the rich or members of the
middle classes, although there was some municipal rented housing
built in
the style. This section looks at examples of both middle- and upper-class
properties. Florin Court, designed by Guy Morgan and Partners and
opened in
1936, is an impressive deco apartment block, and the fictional home
of the
TV detective Hercules Poirot. It has an undulating exterior and
a roof
garden, and in the 1980s a retro deco basement swimming pool was
built.
Unfortunately, the deco foyer was tiled over in the 1980s. |
